I hate the hot weather. Somehow, it seems as I get older it gets hotter and hotter in the Midwest. Maybe it’s just me. Maybe not. It’s hot.
Thus, I love when the crisp air moves in, the leaves start to fall and Starbucks announces their PSL. This is Fall.
However, I can’t forget about my house. I love to decorate. Especially for the seasons or holidays. Somehow this year I missed the boat. We got busy. We couldn’t make up our minds on house projects and I put things off.
Once a year, Bryn’s mom goes on a trip to Bishop Hill, IL for their Fall Festival. If you haven’t been, GO! Anyway, she so graciously brought back some lovely pumpkins and gourds for Bryn and I. This was the key to my motivation this year. Courtney, décor, now.
I didn’t want to over-do it, as we knew we were going to be adopting two pups (more on this later), and I didn’t want there to be a ton of stuff for them to get into and rip apart.
I started with my baker’s rack, adding a few pumpkins. Simple.
I also added a touch to our book shelf. Dollar store pumpkins.
Then, a little something in the dining room. My favorite room for a little festive décor.
This beautiful wreath was made by sister-in-law. I just added some fall flowers to it. Isn’t it lovely?
I finished it off with a switch-a-roo of my coffee rack. The L came from a local antique shop called Songbird Lane Antiques in Cambridge, IL. Again, check. it. out. They have some awesome stuff!
Before I know it, it’s going to be time to take this down and put up Christmas décor. For now, I will enjoy the touches of Fall. With my Starbucks in hand.
P.S. My brother and I went on a fall photo shoot last year. I am still oohing and ahhing over these images from Black Hawk State Park.
